La Grange at Courpignac.In The Charente Maritime Region
The Grange was built before the first world war as a barn for the Bertins,a local farming family one of them was the mayor of courpignac at the time.The barn was divided in 2 by a stone wall with a hay loft over the eastern side.under the hayloft was a milking parlour and workshop.The western side had a dirt floor and was used for storing farming implements and horses.The exterior rendering was never completed as the workers were called up at the out break of the war.
The Grange stayed in the Family until 2005 when it was bought by Mr Swift.There have been some major changes since,a new concrete floor throughout,the old hayloft removed,new timber joists installed for a first floor,the dividing wall taken up to loft level and timber joists installed for the loft floor.Traditional materials have been used including local oak flooring.The only modern materials are the insulation on every level and modern plastic plumbing.

The two holiday apartments are available they are each 130 square metres with 3 double bedrooms and 2 bathrooms each. they will be available 52 weeks a year. I am having a promotion for this year the apartments will be available in July and August for £450 per week. June £350 per week, for April, May, September and October £260 per week. There is also a 2 storey apartment twice the size 260 square metres with 3 ensuite double bedrooms plus a further bathroom, this is available for £740 per week July and August, £600pw for June the other months £360 per week. The large in ground swimming pool should be open in 2016, as this is a big pool 12 x 6 metre it will have running costs and the weekly rates will rise . The new rates will be listed when its open.
The Lake at Montendre 10 mins away
There is a lake with a sandy beach at Montendre 10 minutes drive. The water in the lakes is always a lot warmer than the sea so nicer for a dip.
